For trainers, coaches and teachers of professionals

Teach the communication, not just the English.

I've spent more than 15 years teaching international professionals — and the biggest thing I've learned is that advanced students rarely need more English. They need to be heard at the level of what they actually know. the Darcy Quinn Method is how I get them there: I diagnose the real problem, give them structure, upgrade their language, rehearse them under real pressure, and close every lesson with feedback that changes the next one. Now I'm training a small group of experienced teachers and coaches to do the same.

Eight weeks · live online · around 40 hours · assessed

Fluent students. Stalled lessons.

I see this all the time. Fluent, capable, senior students — and lessons that don't move them forward. Not because the teacher isn't good, but because the lesson isn't built for what a professional actually needs.

Conversation that drifts.

The lesson follows the chat — it's enjoyable, but by the end nobody can say what changed.

The wrong problem gets fixed.

You correct the grammar, but the real issue is structure, register, or how they hold up under pressure.

Progress you can't show.

“They seem more confident” isn't evidence — and senior clients, and the companies paying for them, notice.

My method

The Darcy Quinn Method

Five stages. I use them with every professional I teach.

  1. 01

    Diagnose

I find out what's actually causing the difficulty — not just what the student asks me to fix.

  2. 02

    Structure

I give students frameworks for organising what they say, so their thinking comes across as clearly as it is in their head.

  3. 03

    Language upgrades

I replace language that's correct but sounds more junior than the person speaking — register, tone, hedging, and the rescue language that gets them through when English fails mid-sentence.

  4. 04

    Realistic practice

We rehearse their real meetings, presentations, negotiations and interviews — with the pressure left in.

  5. 05

    Feedback loops

Feedback that's specific, tracked, and always measured against where we started.

How it works

Eight weeks, live, with your own students

Each week there's one live two-hour session with me, then a practice task you carry out with your own students. I observe two of your lessons, and you finish with a final assessment.

WeekFocus
01Proficiency vs executive communication — the gap, and the Darcy Quinn Method
02Diagnose — running the diagnostic first session
03Structure — lesson architecture and speaking frameworks
04Language upgrades — register, tone, hedging, rescue language
05Realistic practice — scenario design and pressure (observed lesson 1)
06Feedback loops — specific feedback and progress tracking
07Programme design — building and explaining a 12-week programme
08Bringing it together — observed lesson 2 and final portfolio

How you're assessed

You pass by meeting the standard on all five stages of the method. I assess everything myself.

  • —A diagnostic case study from a real first session
  • —Two recorded lessons with real students, observed and marked by me
  • —A 12-week programme plan for a professional client
  • —A short reflective log of your weekly practice

Pass, and you're a Darcy Quinn Certified Practitioner — with a CPD certificate for the hours you've completed, and the right to use the method and materials under the practitioner licence.

Who it's for

This is for you if you're an experienced English teacher, business English trainer or communication coach working with professionals at B2 and above — and you want a method you can explain, deliver consistently, and charge properly for.

To join, you'll need at least three years' teaching experience, English at C1 or above, and at least one current professional student at B2+ — you'll need them for the practice tasks and observed lessons.

Not for

It's not the right fit if you're new to teaching, or if your focus is general English, exam-only preparation or young learners. I'd rather tell you that now.

The founding cohort

I'm keeping the first cohort small, and I'll be teaching it myself, live. Here's what's included:

  • —A live cohort of 8–12 practitioners — small enough that I know every one of you
  • —Eight live two-hour sessions with me, recorded
  • —My lesson architecture, diagnostic tools and teaching toolkit
  • —Two observed lessons, with marked, written feedback from me
  • —A final assessment — pass it and you're a Darcy Quinn Certified Practitioner

The founding cohort opens once CPD accreditation is confirmed. Dates and founding pricing go to the waitlist first.

Questions

Is this an accredited qualification?
I'm securing CPD accreditation now — the founding cohort won't open until it's confirmed. Darcy Quinn Certified Practitioner is my own certification, and I assess it myself. It isn't a government-recognised or CELTA-equivalent qualification, and I won't pretend it is.
How much time does it take?
Around five hours a week for eight weeks — the live session, plus a practice task with your own students. Around 40 hours in total.
Do I need to be a native speaker?
No. What matters is a high level of English and real experience teaching professionals.
Can I use the method with my own students afterwards?
Yes — that's the point. Certified practitioners use the method and materials under the Darcy Quinn practitioner licence, and I'll share the terms with you before you enrol.
When does it start?
As soon as CPD accreditation is confirmed. The waitlist hears first.
